Public Lands Day Cleanup at Sloan Canyon NCA
September 25, 2021 | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Join us to celebrate National Public Lands Day with a morning trails cleanup out at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area from the McCullough Hills Trailhead on Saturday, September 25th from 8am-12pm. There are two group start times, 8am and 10am. Please note in your registration which time you prefer. Parking is available on site, registered volunteers will receive a meeting spot map and event details a few days before the event. All ages are welcome, minors without an adult guardian present will need to bring a signed waiver. Waivers will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
In November 2002, Congress designated the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area (NCA) to preserve and protect a portion of southern Nevada’s Mojave Desert for future generations. The 14,763 acre North McCullough Wilderness lies entirely within the Sloan Canyon NCA and contains unique and spectacular natural resources including thousands of acres of pristine land that remain in a natural state.
We will provide all the tools and supplies required for the event, including gloves, trash grabbers, trash bags, drinking water, snacks and hand sanitizer. Plan ahead for your time outside by wearing comfortable closed toed shoes, bringing plenty of drinking water for yourself, applying sunscreen, and wearing a hat. Volunteers can expect to walk approximately 1 to 2 miles on natural surface, unpaved trails.
Registered volunteers will receive an email with event details and meeting location. We look forward to seeing you at the cleanup!
