Our Public Lands Teacher Workshop Series: Spring Mountains

June 9, 2022 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Join this one day workshop to learn how to set up and conduct a field trip to Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. We’ll cover logistics and standards based activities. This is a free course, and eligible teachers will receive 2 CU’s.

Activities and lessons in this workshop are connected to 3rd through 5th grade standards.

Participants will investigate the ecology of the Spring Mountains through engaging and immersive activities. Elevation, adaptation, inter-relationships in nature, and human impact are some of the topics participants will explore. Teachers will learn and practice both pre and post field trip lessons and activities, as well as, activities to facilitate with students at the site.

Participants will begin their workshop at the Spring Mountain Visitor Gateway. Teachers will utilize the trail system at the Visitor Center during the workshop. Much of the day will be outside and on a trail. Walking shoes, water, sunscreen/ hat are strongly recommended.
