Our Public Lands Teacher Workshop Series: Lake Mead
June 6, 2022 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Join this one day workshop to learn how to set up and conduct a field trip to Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We’ll cover logistics and standards based activities. This is a free course, and eligible teachers will receive 2 CU’s.
Activities and lessons in this workshop are connected to 4th grade standards.
Participants will investigate the geology of the Lake Mead area and explore geological processes that shaped the landscape we see today. To a lesser extent, the stories of water, plants, and animals and the human experience at Lake Mead will also be explored. Teachers will learn and practice both pre and post field trip lessons and activities, as well as, activities to facilitate with students at the site.
Participants will begin their workshop at the Water Safety Center on Lake Shore Blvd. Teachers will travel a short distance to the Bluffs trail during the workshop to participate in activities. Much of the day will be outside and on a trail. Walking shoes, water, sunscreen/ hat are strongly recommended.
