#OptOutside Cleanup at Lovell Canyon
November 26, 2021 | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
#OptOutside and join us for a very special cleanup at Lovell Canyon on Thursday, November 26th from 9am-12pm. Registered volunteers will be emailed a meeting spot map.
Lovell Canyon is located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, southwest of Las Vegas. This area is polluted with lead bullets from years of illegal shooting that has contaminated the soil. The canyon is also covered in an invasive plant species called “Russian Thistle,” which becomes extremely flammable when it dries up. These plants put our community at greater risk of forest fires and worsened air quality. Volunteers are needed to help us protect the land and air by removing litter and invasive plants in the area!
Tools and supplies for the cleanup will be provided, including gloves and trash grabbers. We will also have snacks and water for volunteers.
All ages are welcome! Registered volunteers will be emailed a meeting spot map.
We are following health and safety recommendations by the CDC and the Governor’s office. Get Outdoors Nevada staff will continue to wear face coverings at event check-in and during interactions with volunteers. We continue to make the safety of all our volunteers and staff members the number one priority.
We look forward to you joining us for a great morning in the outdoors!
